Oktoberfest Frankenmuth, USA

Welcome to Frakenmuth's 55th Annual Bavarian Festival!

Dog racing at the Frankenmuth Oktoberfest

It's not just an event… it's a real Oktoberfest festival with all the traditional feeling of "Gemutlichkeit" - togetherness and conviviality - combined with the warmth and friendship of Michigan's charming Bavarian Village. It all started in 1959 with a Grand Opening Celebration of the Bavarian style addition to Fischer's Hotel on Main Street. Back then "Tiny" & Dorothy Zehnder gambled on "Bavarianizing" their restaurant and re-naming it ‘Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn’. Several years later the event out-grew the parking of the restaurants and the Civic Events Council of Frankenmuth took over the operation of what has now become an annual Bavarian-style German Beer Festival!

Come and enjoy the “Gemutlichkeit” of Old Bavarian
Oktoberfest , so much more than just an event...

it's a feeling, a spirit, a happy mood combined with
the warmth and friendship of Michigan's Little Bavaria
and evoked by so many of the traditional Oktoberfest
activities. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the Bavarian
music played by authentically dressed German bands
in their traditional lederhosen and dirndl dresses,
watch two outstanding parades, experience a
traditional fair with rides and games and sway to the
dance music in the Harvey Kern Pavilion. Not
surprising that the Oktoberfest Festival has been
voted one of the "Top 5 Festivals in the State of
Michigan" by AAA's Michigan Living Magazine.
Saturday's Kinder Tag (Kid's Day) is sure to have
something for children of all ages from face painting

to a hands-on craft area, and when refreshment is needed the 11 taste buds are tempted to their limit with a variety of delicious German foods and desserts. Of course, it wouldn’t be a German festival without the German beer so to top it all off there’s plenty of refreshing ice-cold beer - Imported and Domestic! Each year, over 100,000 people enjoy the annual Sunday Bavarian Parade and this year's parade (June 9th, 2013) is no different - featuring over 100 entries and including marching bands, beautifully decorated floats, dance clubs with gorgeous dancers in dirndl dresses, visiting dignitaries, enter-tainers, royalty and our newly crowned Bavarian Princess and her Court. The Sunday parade provides a wonderful beginning to a fun packed day at Heritage Park where all the festival events and entertainment are held - Free admission for the day!
